Venetian Plaster Labor Tips:
Many of our fellow faux finishers and Venetian plaster applicators work by themselves.
But sometimes you will be too busy or the job will be too large to handle by yourself. Are you
having trouble finding a good finisher to help you on a job? Or maybe you just don't want to
train someone so well that they eventually become competition to your decorative painting and
plastering business.
Remember this: A good faux finish helper can be just that - help - not another faux finisher.
The individual tasks involved in doing most decorative painting or decorative plastering can
always be broken down into the more skilled and less skilled variety. Let your helper tackle
the less skilled aspects of your faux painting projects, while you handle the more skilled
ones.
Example: On a large scale colorwash or other basic faux finishing project, your assistant
will always apply the glazing medium while you do all of the removal of the colorwash glaze
as well as the adjusting and softening. This will create an assembly line process which
allows you, the skilled faux painter, to focus on the finished product while working at a
much quicker pace.
The reward: A better finished result faster, which should equal higher profits and more
time to sell another faux painting project. Or take a vacation! Or better yet, the time
and money to take a Venetian plaster class with Seattle Architectural Finishing Studio
and get really good and make even more money!
