Thanks for the kind words - that is the # 1 enemy of a nice looking distressed finish - wrong scale -  but it definitely is challenging at first not to make it look too blotchy like you say or too much like vertical stripes.

I NEVER considered the scale of application in comparison to the sample board.  NO Wonder my wall in my kitchen looks so blotchy!  I thought THAT was the way it was suppose to look!
